About Junior AchievementJunior Achievement is the largest and fastest growing economic education not-for-profit organization in the world that links the private sector with education. Over 3 million students in more than 1,000 communities across the United States and in over 125 foreign countries participated in Junior Achievement programs last year. Founded nationally in 1919, Junior Achievement's Miami office opened in 1957. For the coming school year, the organization will recruit hundreds of volunteer business consultants, and reach many thousands of students in Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties. Junior Achievement programs focus on dropout prevention, self-esteem and workforce readiness for the global marketplace of the 21st century. The teachers who use JA programs do so at no cost to schools. The funds to support the classes are raised through corporate contributions and special events such as Bowl-A-Thons and the annual Junior Achievement Celebrity Golf Invitational. All programs involve hands-on, activity-based lessons - correlating with Florida Department of Education public school curricula. Our classroom volunteers contribute thousands of hours teaching Junior Achievement programs to South Florida students. |
